Five small adventures
Choose one activity or make an afternoon of them.
- Make a minibeast tally using drawings.
- Follow a silvery slug trail without touching it.
- Compare an insect's six legs with a spider's eight and a slug's none.
- Create leaf rubbings and add imaginary minibeast characters.
- Build a damp, shady observation corner with leaves and logs, leaving wildlife undisturbed.
Ask better questions
Instead of naming everything straight away, ask: How does it move? Where is it hiding? What colour is it? What might it eat? Careful noticing is the beginning of science.
Be a kind explorer
Observe gently, replace any log or stone exactly as you found it, avoid handling slugs, and wash hands after outdoor play. Never use salt around slugs or snails.
